The Child's Conception of Number. Piaget, Jean. Based on the hypothesis that the construction of number is closely related to the development of logic, this Professor Piaget discusses a set of investigations he and a team of co-workers carried out on the genesis of the notion of number in the child's mind. The aim was to study the essential properties of the number system and the underlying assumptions which adults make about the behavior of numbers. Numerology reduces all multi-digit numbers to the single-digit numbers 1 through 9 with the exception of the three Master numbers 11, 22 and 33. These three Master numbers in many cases are not reduced and have a specific set of attributes that sets them apart from all other numbers.
